The Mithila Shakti Peeth Temple is located near Janakpur Station, Darbhanga, on the border of Bihar, India, and Nepal. This temple is dedicated to Bhagwati Devi, a manifestation of divine feminine energy or Shakti, and is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India, where parts of Goddess Sati's body fell. It is believed that Sati's left shoulder fell at this location, hence the temple is known as Mithila Shakti Peeth.
At this temple, Goddess Sati is worshipped as Uma or Mahadevi, and Bhairav is worshipped as Mahodar. The temple is a significant pilgrimage destination, especially during the Navratri celebrations, which take place twice a year in Chaitra and Ashwini months. During these festivals, the temple is beautifully decorated with flowers and lamps, and special prayers and ceremonies are held in honor of the Goddess.
